What is Rabies?

Rabies is a deadly but preventable viral disease that affects the central nervous system. It is most commonly
transmitted through the bite or scratch of an infected animal, especially dogs. Once symptoms appear, rabies is
nearly always fatal. However, it can be completely prevented through awareness, timely vaccination, and responsible
pet ownership.

At Peedus People, we aim to eliminate rabies in the Tricity area through:

• Awareness sessions at schools, orphanages, and community centers
• Vaccination and sterilization drives in identified areas
• Rabies Educator Certification of volunteers through GARC
• On-ground counseling and data collection at Sector 19 and 38 dispensaries
